Y Northeast Avalon now Safe Harbour certified

Jason Brown
President & CEO

Jason Brown, President & CEOJason Brown was appointed President and CEO of the YMCA-YWCA of Northeast Avalon in 2005. Prior to this, Jason was with the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka as General Manager of the Collingwood YMCA and Project Manager to build the new Wasaga Beach YMCA in central Ontario. Over a 23 year career with the Y, Jason has also worked in senior positions at the National Capital Region YMCA-YWCA in Ottawa and seasonal and part time positions with the YMCA in Ontario, Saskatchewan, and Nova Scotia.

Since moving with his family to St. John's in 2005, Jason has worked with staff and volunteers to develop the Y's Strategic Plan 2010, strengthen current Y operations, establish the Y Strong Families capital campaign, and design and start construction on the new Ches Penney Family Y.

Jason has a degree in Geography from the University of Western Ontario. He is a member of the Rotary Club of St. John's East and the Avalon Chapter of Canadian Tire Jumpstart Committee. Jason also works with YMCA staff and volunteers to help develop the YMCA in communities throughout Eastern Canada through the YMCA Canada East Management Resource Centre and was the 2009 chair of the YMCA Canada East Executive Council. He has has recently been elected a Council Member of the North American YMCA Development Organization for a three year term starting in 2010 and is a member of the YMCA Canada Healthy Child and Youth Development Work Group.
